Initial Evaluation & Treatment

Your first appointment will last 75 minutes. During this time, we’ll spend time discussing your health history, what you’re experiencing in your body and your health goals. I’ll also feel your pulse and look at your tongue, both which give me vital information about your health. Then you will receive your first acupuncture treatment.

You’ll leave this appointment with a customized treatment plan, including recommended frequency for future treatments, as well as an at-home protocol that may include herbal formulations, supplements, nutrition and self-care practices.

Relaxing Treatments

If you’re new to acupuncture, you may be surprised at how relaxing treatments can be. The needles are as fine as a human hair, which I’ll gently insert into about 5-10 points on your body. Then, you’ll relax under a heat lamp for 20-30 minutes. Most people drift off into a deep state of relaxation while the needles work their magic.

Depending on your individual health needs, I may enhance your treatments with moxibustion, which is a warming technique applied to acupuncture points. For areas of chronic tension and pain, I may also use cupping or gua sha therapies.

At-Home Protocol

You’ll see the greatest transformation in your health by using natural remedies, including herbal formulations and supplements, at home. I’ll also recommend changes in your diet, mindfulness practices and other healthy habits that you can add into your life to help you achieve optimal health.

We’ll give your customized protocol during your first session, making it easy for you to stick to the plan and purchase our recommended herbal formulations and supplements. Then, each time you come in for treatments, we’ll discuss how the at-home protocol is working for you and make any necessary adjustments.
